Faith, Food and Land

Metro Atlanta Urban Farm, in partnership with RAFI-USA, will hosting a Faith, Food and Land event on Thursday, 25 April 2024, at the farm.  Registration is required, registration link below.

Please join Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL), RafiMetro Atlanta Urban Farm, and Georgia Young Farmers on April 25from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM at the Metro Atlanta Urban Farm (3271 Main St., College Park, GA 30337) to learn more about the connections between faith, food, and land. This event will bring together local farmers and faith leaders to learn about each other’s work, collaborative measures, and how to advocate for a more just food system. Lunch will be provided.

Agenda:

9:30 – 10:00: Self-guided farm tour of Metro Atlanta Urban Farm

10:00 – 10:30 Opening Remarks, Welcome

10:30 – 11:30: Farmers’ Perspective Panel

11:30 – 12:00: Farm Mental Health Stress Presentation

12:00 – 1:00: Lunch

1:00 – 2:30: Breakout Panels (Farmer Focused & Faith Focused)

2:30 – 3:30: Facilitated Discussion Groups

Goals:

Faith Leaders will:

  • Learn more about local farmers’ operations, experiences, and challenges to orient future partnerships.
  • Gain connections with farmers, faith leaders, and new resources that strengthen food ministries and/or farming operations.

Farmer and Growers will: 

  • Gain support and shared knowledge, expertise, and opportunities to increase farming operation capacity.
  • Make connections with governmental resources and staff (USDA, NRCS, FSA) and local faith communities.
